I know this sounds cliche, but can you believe it’s the last day of 2019?
2019 has been another year full of happiness and sadness. Such is life, huh?
Here is a recap of our year:
January
In January Chris got into a horrible wreck and totaled his truck. We were so thankful he only walked away with a sprained wrist and nothing else!
Lots of basketball for Emily Grace
February
Emily had her 5th grade daddy/daughter dance. She looked beautiful and had the best time with Chris!
Liz had her first MS semi-formal dance. I couldn’t believe how grown up she looked!
Lots of volleyball tournaments for Liz
March
March is always a whirlwind month at our house because I’m so busy coaching MS volleyball and Chris is coaching MS baseball.
We are just in full survival mode and live day by day. I wouldn’t trade it for anything though!
Emily also made her debut on a volleyball team and loved the sport
And Emily got her braces off and it was like she grew up instantly
April
Celebrated Easter
Took a much needed girls trip to the Bahamas with my sister, mom, and Nini (grandma)
May
Ended another great school year. 5th and 6th grade were good to us!
Went to a Cardinals game and the girls were even on ESPN
Celebrated Emily Grace turning 11
June
June 2 marked two years since my dad passed away. Man, I miss him so very much.
June 6 we celebrated Chris turning 36
The second week in June Chris and I took a vacation to MI to celebrate 15 years of marriage on June 12
June 14 we lost my precious mother in-law to stage 4 colon cancer. It happened so quickly and our hearts were crushed.
July
Lots of grieving and lots of sadness in our household trying to find our new normal without Lequeeta (my MIL). James, my FIL, lived with us for a while during this time.
We were able to celebrate 4th of July with some of Chris’s family and had a great time on Table Rock Lake
We did try to escape to the river for some fun
And ended the month with going to another Cardinals game with friends
August
Went on a week long vacation to Navarre, FL with our great friends.
Started a new school year with both girls in MS now where Chris and I teach
I turned 35
September
Lots of cheerleading for Liz
Emily attended her first ever middle school dance
Chris ran his first half marathon
October
Celebrated Halloween with a green hydroflask and red crayonAnd the best 8th grade teachers as Ninja Turtles
November
World Diabetes Day
Celebrated Thanksgiving with my family
And also with a trip to Springfield to see Chris’s family
Chris and I attended our first NBA basketball game and we were able to watch LeBron James!
December
Liz turned 13 and I surprised her with a special trip to San Francisco
I totaled my car coming back from our trip from the airport. Chris and I didn’t have the best luck with our vehicles this year. But thankfully Liz and I walked away without a scratch!
Celebrated Liz’s 2nd Diaversary with a fun snow tubing and shopping trip with friends
Celebrated Christmas. Our hearts were so sad and missed Lequeeta so much, but we did something a little extraordinary and surprised the girls with a trip to Disney
So many ups and downs this year. I like to highlight the good things, but know there were many sad times and low points.
I’m so thankful for my wonderful family. No matter what we go through, we always come out stronger and better.
Can’t wait to see what the new year holds for us!
Happy New Year!
