Meet and Greet Tuesday

Meet and Greet Tuesday

Hello! Happy Tuesday, friends! It’s one of my favorite days of the week because it’s time for another Meet and Greet Tuesday!

Today, we are talking with one of my favorite mommas, Whitney, from The Perfectly Imperfect Mama.

Here is what she had to say:

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Hey y’all, first of all, Jen, thank you so much for having me today! I love following along with your sweet family!

I’m Whitney! I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 11 years & we have 4 babes … 3 earth side & one angel baby! I have been a stay at home mama for 10 years now.  Time flies! My family is in the ministry, a non profit pro life organization, & it has been & continues to be such a blessing to us! I rearrange furniture way too much & enjoy all things Jesus, organizing, serving, family get togethers & decorating!

How long have you been blogging and what inspired you to start blogging?

-I have been blogging for 5 years! I have always had a heart to write & in 2015, my marriage hit rock bottom. Praise the Lord for His grace & restoration! ❤ Writing became an outlet for me during that time & once I started blogging, I just loved it so much & wanted to continue to use my platform to share the goodness of Jesus!

How did you come up with the name of your blog?

The Perfectly Imperfect Mama blog wasn’t always the name of my blog. It started out as “We Do Love.” For my marriage to heal, it took a lot of love, grace, healing, & forgiveness so the name fit at the time. The more I started writing though, the more things I started to share & most of those things relate all back to motherhood so I decided to change the name to The Perfectly Imperfect Mama. My babes don’t need a perfect mama .. heck, the perfect one doesn’t even exist .. but, what they do need is a mama who is in need of Jesus every single day. They need a mama who makes mistakes & knows how to ask for forgiveness. They need a mama who teaches them to love like Christ. In me, they have that mama .. the one who is in desperate need of God’s Grace each & every day. The mama who is not perfect, but is the perfectly imperfect mama.

Of all your posts you have written, which is your favorite and why?

Oh my heart! That’s a tough one. My three things right now posts are always favorite because I LOVE to look back on them to see what season of life my kiddos were in. I recently wrote a post on being in the waiting & loved that one because my family & I are in such a season of waiting & many of my readers could relate. I love writing things that can help others .. even if only one person!

You need some encouragement.  Who is your go to person for a little pick me up?

My hubby! Y’all, he’s funny & so kind hearted.

You have friends coming over to dinner tomorrow night.  What are you going to make for a meal?

With all of our kiddos there, tacos. Without our kiddos there, tacos.

😜

You can never go wrong with Mexican food!

What is your favorite dessert recipe?

My hubby’s chocolate pecan pie! You can find it on my blog!

You are planning an evening out.  What’s your favorite go-to restaurant for a fun time?

We are super easy to please … give us a Dave & Busters with pizza, wings & games & we are good to go!

If you could have a weekend away, just you and your husband, where would you go?

I would LOVE a long weekend away to Cabo. We went on our honeymoon & we want to go back so bad!

What are some pet peeves of yours, and why?

Smacking .. of .. food!

-Slurping up spaghetti .. I can’t handle that sound!

What’s your go to type of music?

Christian

What’s your idea of the perfect family day?

A day trip to find a picnic & a creek to play in!

Has living through a pandemic taught you anything?

We don’t need all the material things. What we have inside our homes .. our family .. is what is most important. I did a blog series at the beginning of the pandemic called “The Sweet Things that Remain” .. I shared more about this there!

Favorite Scripture verse and why?

Gosh, there are so many good ones but the one I cling to the most is Romans 8:28 – And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.

There will be trials that come along in your life. It’s no surprise at all to God. We must keep our eyes to Him, open our hearts to Him & trust Him because He can & will use your pain & heartache for His good, for His glory & His glory alone.  I have seen it in my own marriage & in the life of our sweet baby girl that we lost at 16 weeks pregnant. He has been nothing but good to me!

Favorite book you have ever read?

Confession … I am not a reader! Don’t hate me. I guess I know where my 10 year old gets his lack of love for reading … 😉 I do love a good devotional & am currently doing Lysa Terkeurst’s Embraced. It’s really good!

Best advice you would give to a new blogger?

t’s so easy to get caught up in the numbers game but, don’t for a second focus on the number of followers you have or the number of page views you are getting. Write about what you love because chances are, there is someone out there that needs to hear it as well!

Thank you, Whitney, for taking the time to answer my questions! It was so fun to read your answers.

Y’all have a great Tuesday!
