Happy New Year! I can’t wait to see all of the new and exciting things that are in store for my family and I in 2017!
This weekend was a fun, yet relaxing weekend all in one. We had a good balance of going and doing things, but also being lazy and comfy in our own home.
As I sat down to write this blog post, I realized I was HORRIBLE at taking pictures this weekend! I guess I was too wrapped up in the moment to remember to get my phone out and take a picture. I am going to share the few that I took, though.
Friday we went up to Cape and let the girls go to Creative Ewe Pottery again. When we were there last time making Christmas gifts, I promised the girls we would go back during Christmas Break and let them paint something to keep. Liz painted a cheerleader and Emily picked out an owl piggy bank to paint. I only took a picture of Emily’s owl. Liz is a perfectionist and paints at grandma speed, so by the time she was done painting her cheerleader I was ready to get out of there! LOL
After we painted pottery, we went to a few stores. We had to go to Lowe’s and buy a few things for our house and then to Target to pick up a bathroom rug. After shopping we ate at our favorite spot, Logan’s Roadhouse. At Logan’s they had a fundraiser where they would donate $1 to a charity for each selfie you took with the bottle of ketchup. Of course, my girls wanted to take a selfie!
Saturday we got up early and headed to Doniphan for the day. We went to my sister’s house and visited with them and my mom and dad for the afternoon. I love days when we can all get together with no agenda and just visit and let the kids play.
And we can’t make a trip to Doniphan without going and looking at beautiful Current River:
We made it back to Dexter just in time to get ready to go to the Lummukka’s house. We were invited to their house for a New Year’s Eve party. There were lots of friends there and it was a great time to visit. My girls ended up being the only girls there out of all the kids. Emily at one point told me that boys were crazy, but she was having a lot of fun. They played well with all the boys and we enjoyed our evening there. We came back home around 10:30 to ring in the new year together. We played a few board games and were actually able to keep the girls up until midnight! Elizabeth was barely hanging on, but we all made it for the big celebration at midnight, then went straight to bed.
Today we slept in and have been really lazy. It has been a wonderful day to stay in our pajamas all day and not do a whole lot. I have graded papers and caught up on all of my laundry. The girls have played and watched Netflix and Chris went hunting this evening. We are all dreading going back to school this week and are a little bummed Christmas Break is almost over. This evening we plan to just soak in our time at home with nothing to do before our busy schedules start up again.
Leaving you with our #selfieSunday, which was actually taken on Saturday but will have to work for this week. I hope you have a blessed week!
