Thought it would be fun to do a little Q&A blog post today.
Thank you to all those that sent some questions to me through IG!
Here we go:
Tell me about your life before kids:
Chris and I married YOUNG! I’m talking I was 19 and he was 21! We were both in college full time and working full time, so things were BUSY!
I had Elizabeth Faith 4 days before my college graduation, so technically life “before” kids was college and working.
I wouldn’t trade it for the world, though!
How’d you know Chris was the one for you?
My relationship with Chris was genuine and easy from day one. He was easy to talk to, made things fun, and always treated me like a queen. I knew very quickly I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.
Why’d you start blogging?
I wanted to create an online scrapbook for the girls to be able to look back of their childhood. My only regret is that I didn’t start it when they were younger!
How do you balance all the hats you wear?
I don’t! For real!!
I never want you all to think I have everything together. I do the best I can as mommy, teacher, college student, wife, coach, daughter, sister, friend, etc.
Chris is an amazing team member and helps keep me sane. I also have the best kids in the world that make being a mom easy and fun!
I’ve learned to give myself grace when I feel like I’m sinking and not doing a good job at it all. And I just keep swimming!
How do you deal with stress?
I pretend that everything is fine and nothing is wrong until I get to a breaking point and I have a good cry fest late at night with Chris or by myself.
I am also guilty of eating a whole pint of ice cream when stress is high.
Do you ever have working mom guilt?
Honestly, I never really did and still don’t today. I LOVE my job and I love teaching my girls that women are successful and can do anything they want to do.
I also knew I’d get bored staying at home after day 2 with the girls, so working is my jam.
And teaching gives me the best of both worlds. I work and have all the time off with my girls and don’t miss out on anything!
Do you guys want more kids (or did you) and is/has adoption ever been a thought?
I love this question! Chris and I are not able to have anymore kids, but we are currently foster parents and would welcome more kids in our home.
We had two placements last year but took some time off from fostering when we lost my dad and Liz got diagnosed with diabetes.
We are finally back on the call list for fostering and haven’t received any calls yet.
We will wait and see if it’s God’s will for us to adopt through fostering or not. Our girls are our number one priority and we would never do anything without their consent and all of us agreeing on it.
Read my blog post here on our decision to foster.
How do you make sure, or how will you as the girls get older, that you have a close relationship with them?
I think the key to this is letting them both know that I will ALWAYS be there for them no matter what. I am in their corner and will always love them through everything in their life.
I also try to be their “friend” and talk to them about everything under the sun and have an open line of communication with them.
What is your favorite type of fancy food?
I am NOT fancy at all! Give me all the hamburgers and french fries every day. If I had to pick a “fancy” food, I’d say steak. Yummy!
That’s all I have time for today!
I’ll be back tomorrow with Friday Favorites. Thank you for reading my blog and following along with us!

Great post!! Love learning more about you, friend! You have such a sweet heart, and your family does too. I had no clue that you all fostered kiddos…what a blessing!!
Yes! We became foster parents in 2017. Had to take a little hiatus when life happened with my dad and Liz.
What a fun post, Jen! You got some great questions!! I love that you guys are foster parents and can’t wait to see what God has planned for you all through that. Joe was 21 when we got married too. {I am a couple years older than him, so he was finishing school and I was teaching when we got married.} Always love learning more about you.
Thank you! It was fun to write!
That is very cool that you are foster parents. I used to work with foster kids but don’t know that I could foster my own!
It is challenging and rewarding all at the same time!
I love this and I love all the pictures! You and Chris look so young, but yet still the same if that makes any sense at all. I love that you foster. What a fun post!
Thank you! And yes, we were SO young!!! I still feel like I should be that young, but we are creeping close to 40.
I love this Q & A post! And so fun learning more about you! I also love that you do fostering. I give you all the credit in the world because that can be so hard!!
Thank you! It was a fun post to make.
I didn’t know that you were foster parents or that you were a young bride. Great Q and A…you look so different with bangs.
I’ve had many, many different hairstyles throughout the years! Lol
I wondered if you would foster again 🙂 I can’t wait to see what the Lord does in your life and I learned some new things about you, love it!
Thank you! Prayers always going up for your Quincy too!
