We finally had a weekend at home with no plans and it was just what we needed! I was so thankful for a nice, relaxing weekend. We won’t have another free weekend until April 22, so I took advantage of being pretty lazy.
I also realized that I was REALLLLLYYY bad at taking pictures this weekend, so this post will be short and sweet.
Friday after school Elizabeth was invited to go with Maddi and a few friends that had read all 12 Mark Twain books to celebrate! Maddi’s mom, Carli, bought them all Sonic slushes and let them enjoy the afternoon together. It was a BIG accomplishment that they were able to read all 12 of those books!
Since Liz was at Maddi’s house I let Emily have a friend come home with her after school to play. Her and Karis had such a great time playing together. They played with their American Girl dolls, sang karaoke, and then played outside for a little bit. It was nice Emily had a friend over also because I was able to get a few things done around the house after school.
We took Karis home and then headed to the gym for volleyball practice. Chris actually came and got Emily so she wasn’t there distracting me during practice and Carli just brought Liz and all the girls to volleyball practice.
Volleyball practice was over at 9:00 and then Liz and I went home. Chris wanted a sweet tea from Sonic, so we all rode into town together and got a sweet treat. It was a great way to end a Friday night!
Saturday morning Chris went up to work at Teen Challenge and the girls and I slept in a little bit. I actually woke up around 7:00 and was able to read in bed until about 8:30. It was so nice!
Liz was invited to spend the day with a friend so she left around 10:30 that morning. Emily and I went over to Chris’ mom and dad’s house and spent a few hours with Lequeeta. She is doing great and her leg is healing very nicely. She goes back to the doctor on Friday and hopefully will be able to move from the wheelchair to a walker.
While we were there Emily helped me clean her house. Emily loves any chance to help me with house work. I love her eagerness even though I have to redo some of the things she does because I am OCD. HA!
Emily and I went back to our house and she was able to play outside most of the afternoon while I cleaned our house from top to bottom. It hadn’t been deep cleaned in a while, so it made me feel so much better to get it cleaned.
Saturday evening when Chris got home we ate supper together and were pretty lazy. The girls played in their rooms, I worked on some volleyball tournament stuff, graded papers, and worked on laundry. Liz wanted to help me get groceries for the week, so we went to Wal-Mart after making our grocery list. She was such a big helper and made sure I stayed on budget and got everything we needed!
Saturday night we put the girls to bed early and Chris and I were able to watch The Help that was on TV. It is one of my favorite movies, but Chris had never watched it and actually enjoyed it.
Sunday morning started with sleeping in and then pancakes {our Sunday tradition}. After church we all ate sandwiches {except Emily} and I let the girls eat in front of the TV! They thought that was a big deal.
After lunch Chris and the girls were SUPER lazy and didn’t move from the couch. I graded papers and worked on more laundry. The life of a mom/teacher NEVER ends.
Sunday afternoon I left the house around 3:00 ALL BY MYSELF! I headed to Poplar Bluff to meet my sister for a movie. We both wanted to see The Shack and our husbands told us they weren’t taking us, so we decided to go together. It was SUCH a great movie and I cried almost all the way through it. It was a powerful story about forgiveness and really makes you think about a lot of things. God truly wants a relationship with each and every one of us and loves ALL his children. Even though I had read the book, I was so glad I was able to go and see the movie. It was also a much needed break away from being mommy. I love my girls, but sometimes you just need a few hours without them to feel refreshed as a mom.
Leaving you with our #selfieSunday. This week’s outtakes were too good not to share! It shows a few of our “normal” shots before we are able to get a good one. Emily Grace was not in a very cooperative mood because I wouldn’t let her wear lipstick! It looks like Elizabeth punches her in one picture, but I promise it was just a little shove and no one was harmed!
I pray you have a blessed week!
