Adventure Tuesday

Adventure Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!  We are sad in our household today that the Cavs lost last night!  The Warriors are a crazy good team that are going to be hard to beat for the next couple of years.

Today I thought I would share with you our past two Adventure Tuesdays that we have went on.

We are loving being together and enjoying God’s beautiful scenery.

Two weeks ago we didn’t have a lot of time left in our Tuesday after the rain stopped, so we kept it pretty local and went up near the Ellsinore area and visited the Blue Hole.  It is also sometimes called The Gulf.  Basically it is a giant water-filled sinkhole from a cave ceiling collapsing!

It is not a very known place and WAY off the beaten path and difficult to find.  The whole way there Chris kept telling me he thought I was nuts and there was no way I was taking them to some neat place.

When we finally made it, it honestly wasn’t what I was expecting, but mesmerizing nonetheless.  I thought there would be an easier path to get closer to the water, but it was a steep, muddy path straight down and we were all scared to climb down it.

However, the Blue Hole was a very neat place to see.  We hiked around it as much as we could and read up on the history of it.  We also found some snails and looked for buried treasures like Emily suggested that we do.

I wish we wouldn’t have spent a whole day going here and would’ve waited to stop by it on our way back home from some other place, but you live and learn.  It was still nice to sing songs together as a family on the car ride to and from and explore outside. Precious memories being made!

The following Tuesday was a very, very rough day.  With my dad passing away I went through many different waves of emotions.  Tuesday we had finally came back to Dexter {just for the day} from being at Doniphan since Saturday.  I had to get caught up on a few things around the house {laundry mostly} and Elizabeth had a cheer choreography class she had to attend.

I’ll be honest with you and tell you, I think I cried the morning away.  I was going through old pictures and photo albums trying to look for one certain picture of me and dad at my wedding, and every picture brought back tons of memories and emotions.

Grief is not something I am going to overcome.  It is something I know I am going to have to live with for the rest of my life.  Losing a dad is a forever changing life loss.  I am so thankful I have the promise of spending eternity with him when I get to see him again in Heaven.  That is the only thing that is keeping me going right now.

After Elizabeth was done with cheer that afternoon we all headed back to Doniphan.  We stayed at my sister’s house the rest of the week because it was just easier on us than trying to drive back and forth from Dexter every day.

When we got over to Doniphan we decided to take the girls to Current River for our Adventure Tuesday.  Even though our hearts were so sad, we knew Papa Tim loved the river and was probably smiling down on us from Heaven for enjoying the beautiful evening together.

We grabbed supper from town and then headed to the river.  We only saw one other boat and it was such a peaceful evening on the water.

After we had a picnic on the gravel bar, we floated down in the boat for a long time while Chris fished and I tried to read a book.  I actually didn’t get any of my book read.  Instead, I cried and prayed and cried and prayed.

We ended up staying on the river until almost dusk.  Even through our sadness we were able to have a few happy moments together and for that I am thankful.
