Bahamas Cruise~ Part 2

Happy Tuesday!

I’m back to share more from our Gilmore Girls Cruise!

I thought I could finish it all in one post today, but I’m going to have to make one more post after this one. #sorrynotsorry

Monday we finally made it to Nassau, Bahamas!

We were at the port and docked when we woke up that morning.

The city of Nassau

Our excursion didn’t leave until 11:00 that morning, so we took our time eating breakfast and then got ready to go.

The excursion we decided to do was called See and Sea.

The first part of the excursion is we took an air conditioned tour bus around the city of Nassau and learned some history of the city.

We also saw some cool landmarks.

It only cost people $10 a day to get treated at this hospital!  That is anything from a band-aid to a major surgery.  For tourists it would cost $60 a day!!
Such a pretty tree that blooms only in their “rainy” season (May and June)
The water tower that supplies all of the water to the city

The Queen’s Staircase- famous because it was carved out of limestone rock by slaves
Looking down from the top of the Queen’s Staircase
I was brave enough to climb down and back up the stairs!  There are 66 steps if you are wondering.  Whew!

Fort Fincastle in Nassau, Bahamas

Zoomed way in to get a shot of all the ships docked at Nassau

Governor’s Mansion
Emily loves Dunkin’ Donuts so I took this picture for her!

After our tour of the land, we went and did the “sea” part of our excursion.

We rode a boat out into the middle of the ocean and then got onto a submarine.

On our way to the submarine, our boat driver told us all about the houses we were passing.

We were able to ride by Paradise Island in Nassau. Make sure to read the caption of every picture to see whose house we saw!

Nicholas Cage’s house- Currently for sale for 14 million dollars!
A view of the popular Atlantis resort.  Michael Jackson owned that suite where it looks like a bridge where the two buildings connect.  Now that suite rents out for $25,000 a night and it’s booked solid for the next 5 years!
Margaritaville
ONE of Oprah Winfrey’s two houses in Nassau
The other house of Oprah’s that is right next door.  They were both GORGEOUS!
Tried to get a shot of both of Oprah’s houses, but I had my big zoom on my camera.
Chuck Norris’ house

Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and some others all have houses on Paradise Island also, we just couldn’t see them from the side of the ocean we were on.

We finally made it to our submarine and it was such a cool experience! We saw sharks, sea turtles, and tons of different fish! I loved seeing an up-close and personal look at the ocean life!

SHARK!

After our sea tour, we had time to shop at the famous Straw Market before heading back on the ship.

It was a beautiful day in Nassau, Bahamas! I was so glad we were able to see the culture of this city!

We ended the night with a beautiful sunset.  I love how the sun looked like it just melted into the ocean.  It was so peaceful to watch every night.

Hope your Tuesday is great!  We start MAP testing today so I am nervous for my students.  I know they will do great though!

I’ll be back tomorrow for more cruise pictures.  It is of our beach day and it’s the prettiest water I have ever seen!

  1. OK I loved this post for a few reasons; #1 I will fully admit mainly because it brought back so many of my honeymoon memories!! We climbed that staircase, toured a few forts and I remember pulling into port just staring at the Atlantis resort (it had only recently re-opened was not as widely advertised). We remember learning about many of the house on PI and could not get over their prices even waaay back then! I still have a backpack purse I bought in the straw market.. it’s falling apart but I just love it. #2 It looks like you all are having a fabulous time together making memories.

    1. I was so impressed with the houses on that island! WOW! The straw market was great. I was able to negotiate and get a few good deals on things for the girls. 🙂

  2. I had never done anything in Nassau other than the Straw Market and I didn’t realize there were so many other things to see! I love the striped shirt you’re wearing!

  3. I am so jealous of your cruise! That is one thing I have always wanted to do. And your sunset pictures….STUNNING!! I am such a huge sucker for sunsets/sunrises. So glad you had a fabulous time!

  4. Beautiful sunset is RIGHT!! Living vicariously through your cruise and telling my Prince C. all about it. Hint, hint. Lovely photos.

  5. What a fun trip!!! Those sunset pictures are incredible, and I just don’t know if I could have done the bow submarine thing! #claustrophobic
