March Book Review

Happy Thursday!  Happy 21st Birthday to my cousin, Makayla!

Tonight is Emily’s 5th grade musical.  I am so excited to watch it!

I was only able to read 2 books this month.  I’m telling you, I’m slacking!  But, I know I will do better next month!

The first book I read this month was The Great Alone.  It wasn’t my favorite book, but it was a good book also.  It took me FOREVER to get into this book.  It was such a long book and it really took a while for the characters and story to be laid out.

I didn’t like how the book ended with Matthew getting hurt, but am so glad that Leni decided to go back to Alaska.  I also learned a lot about the state of Alaska through reading this book, so that was an added bonus.

3.5/5 stars

The second book I read this month was Where the Crawdads Sing.  I started it last month, but then got so busy I didn’t pick it back up again until last Sunday.  I read the WHOLE book in one day!  It was SOOO good!  I loved everything about Kya, the “marsh” girl, and her love story with Tate.  The ending had a twist that I really loved also.  I definitely recommend this book to everyone!

5/5 stars

Hope your Thursday is great!

  1. I too thought the Great Alone took a long time to get through but once I finished it I knew it was one of those stories that was going to stick with me. It was so moving at times; as most of her books are. I’m still waiting for Where the Crawdad Sing to come in at our library; I’ve heard such great things about it.

  2. I finished The Great Alone last month! Loved it! I see what you mean about it taking a while but I fell in love with the description of the landscape of Alaska! We visited Alaska a few summers ago and I felt like I could visualize all of it! And one point I actually gasped out loud during some of the intense parts! Ugh! What are you reading next?!
