What's Up Wednesday?

What’s Up Wednesday?

Happy Wednesday!  We are finally on Thanksgiving break and so thankful!

Today I am linking up with ShayMel, and Sheaffer and sharing with you my monthly What’s Up Wednesday post.

What I’m reminiscing about:

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, I can’t help but reminisce about last Thanksgiving.  I never would’ve imagined it would be my last Thanksgiving with my dad.  I miss him so much it hurts.  I have had a HARD time this week.  I’ve been finding myself crying so much missing my dad.  The other night on the way to my volleyball game, I thought I was going to have to turn around and go back home because I couldn’t stop crying.  I just wish he was here with us.  We all get caught up in making sure our turkey is perfect, the house is clean, but that doesn’t matter at all.   So this Thanksgiving, I challenge you to slow down and enjoy the family and friends you are with.  You never know when it might be the last holiday together.  This is my favorite picture of me and dad from Thanksgiving last year:

What I’m loving:

Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes Box.jpg

I am loving Christmas tree cakes!  Can’t stop, won’t stop eating them.

What we’ve been up to:

Chris has done a lot of hunting, so the girls and I have had a lot of time to ourselves.  We’ve shopped, worked on puzzles, watched movies, and ate way too much junk food.  Because of all of his hunting, Chris was able to get a GREAT 10-pointer!

Also, Liz had her first Songmakers choir concert last night.  They all did so well!

What I’m dreading:

I know I said this last month, but now we know more information.  Although I am thankful and hopeful, at the same time, I am dreading my mother-in-law going down to MD Anderson next WEEK!  Please be praying for her and my father-in-law.  I’m praying for God’s peace to be with them as they go through more tests and find out what the next step is to fight this cancer.

What I’m working on:

Trying to get everything in order for Christmas.  Chris and I are going on a shopping date soon to finish our shopping up and then I can relax more.  Elizabeth also turns 11 soon and we are trying to plan her party.

What I’m excited about:

That I only have two weeks left in this class for my Master’s degree and then I have a month break before classes start back up again.  I am ready for a BREAK!  Being a teacher, mommy, wife, having homework, etc..is starting to wear me thin.

What I’m watching:

This is Us is the only thing I am watching on TV right now since Grey’s Anatomy is on their winter break.  I wanted to catch Fixer Upper’s season premiere last night, but I missed it.  Did you all watch This is Us?  SOO GOOD!  I loved watching the mother-daughter scene with Kate and her mom.

What I’m reading:

Karen Kingsbury’s new book, In This Moment, my Nini bought me.  I’m almost done with it and it really has made me think about a lot!  I love Karen Kingsbury!

What I’m doing this weekend:

After Thanksgiving tomorrow, we don’t have a lot planned.  Friday we are going to a tree farm and getting our very first REAL tree for the basement!  I am so excited!  Emily wants to string it with popcorn tinsel and everything so we will see if that’s what we do or not.  Saturday I want to decorate the house for Christmas and spend time at home together.  Sunday is church and then we are going to Doniphan for a special hanging of the greens service at my mom’s church.  We bought some poinsettias in memory of my dad that I can’t wait to get.

What I’m looking forward to next month:

Our sweet Liz turns 11!  11?!?!?!  How is that even possible?  I am also looking forward to Christmas and spending as much time as possible with loved ones.  We also have Liz’s first cheer competition and Emily starts piano/voice lessons!  So, lots of exciting things!

Well, that is all I have time for today!  Thanks for reading.  You all make my day brighter every time I read your nice comments or messages on IG.

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday and a great Thanksgiving holiday with your family.

  1. I am on the library’s waiting list for that new Karen Kingsbury book, can’t wait to read it! In the mean time, I am reading all her little red glove Christmas books. There are no words to mend your broken heart but I am thinking and praying for you all and specifically for your mother in law. My aunt had great care at MD Anderson many years ago. I pray the same for your MIL 🙂 xoxo ERIN
