Weekend Recap

Weekend Recap

So thankful for the weekend!  Last week was our first week back at school since Christmas break, so we were ready to see the weekend arrive in our household.  It is hard to get back into a routine.

Friday night Elizabeth went to a sleepover for her friend, Adeline’s, 10th birthday party.  Since Emily would be by herself, I let her have a friend over to play for a few hours.  Emma came home from school with us and was able to play until about 5:30 with Emily.  They had the best time!

After Emma’s mom picked her up and we ate supper, we headed to Sikeston.  We needed to go to Lowe’s to pick up a few things for our house.  We are trying to sell our house because we need more space so we have been updating a few things.  Nothing major needs to be fixed, just a few minor things: new ceiling fan in Elizabeth’s room, new doorbell since ours busted, and new kitchen handles and knobs.  We are also thinking about putting ceramic tile in the other two bathrooms that matches our master bathroom that we redid this summer.  Not sure on that yet or not.

Emily requested to go to Simply Swirled after Lowe’s but since it was 8 degrees outside, we settled with going to get donuts at Dunkin’ Donuts.  She is the donut queen and loves a good chocolate donut with sprinkles!

We came home and enjoyed a quiet evening of laying on the couch and being lazy.  This week had kicked my booty and I was ready for bed about 9:00!

Saturday morning since it was only Emily here it was a nice and peaceful morning.  Chris went to work up at TC in Cape, so Emily and I slept a little later than normal and then went into town to run a few errands.  We had to go to the bank and then we also went to the library to get our weekly AR books.

Liz got home from her sleepover around noon on Saturday.  I fixed the girls lunch and then got busy cleaning the house.  We are showing the house on Monday so I wanted to make sure I deep cleaned everything really well and had the house looking good.  I also did all of the laundry and switched sheets.  No pictures, but cleaning house and laundry took me all afternoon and into the evening!

While I was cleaning the girls were bored so they decided to give each other makeovers.  I forgot to take a picture of the finished look, but I did snap a few pictures of them during the process.  They actually did really well on each other’s make-up; I was impressed!  I also didn’t lose my cool when I had just cleaned that bathroom and had to go behind them and clean the counter again!

Saturday night we ate out because it’s the one night of the week that I don’t cook.  After supper I went to the Wal-Mart clinic to get a wellness exam.  This was the last step I had to do for all of the paperwork for our fostering home study.  I was just thinking it was going to be a regular physical, but I ended up having to get a shot!! I couldn’t prove that I had a tetanus shot in the last 10 years, so the doctor wanted to give me one before he would sign off that I was up to date on my immunizations.  I hate shots and I was a little freaked out!  It wasn’t horrible, but my arm is SSOOOOO sore today!

After going to the clinic I went ahead and got my groceries for the week since I was already at Wal-Mart.  I was afraid it would be crowded since it’s the first of the month, but it wasn’t bad at all.  Saturday night is my favorite time to go because it usually isn’t crowded at all and the shelves are stocked well.

Saturday evening was normal stuff with taking showers for church the next day and just relaxing on the couch.  Chris and I put the girls to bed a little early and then hung out and watched a movie together.

Sunday morning I got up really early and made homemade waffles for everyone.  I got a new waffle maker for Christmas that I wanted to try out.  The waffles actually turned out really well that I might start making them every Sunday.

After church we came home and ate chili and then had a lazy Sunday afternoon.  Emily and I snuggled together on the couch and watched Try Not to Laugh videos on YouTube.  Elizabeth painted in her room and told me I wasn’t allowed to look at what she was painting.

Chris only has one more weekend for hunting so he decided to go up to Cape and go deer hunting Sunday afternoon.  He always texts me a picture of him in the deer woods and tells me he loves me while he’s hunting.  I love my outdoor-loving man!

Sunday evening we had volleyball practice for Elizabeth’s traveling volleyball team.  Our season doesn’t start until March, but I like to have practices on Sundays to keep the girls busy and any practice at this point is a good thing!  They are only in 4th grade and are just now learning the fundamentals of volleyball.  Emily had to go with me since Chris was hunting and played on the pull up bars the whole time.  She is a little monkey!  Maddi and Liz got ahold of my phone after practice and used my SnapChat filters to take a few selfies.  Love those girlies and their friendship!

Elizabeth surprised me with her painting after volleyball.  She painted a canvas that says the Bolin Bunch on it because she knows how much I love blogging and that is the name of my blog.  It was so sweet!
