July Book Review

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks for all the love and comments yesterday with my new blog series.  I think it will be a fun way to get to know lots of bloggers!  I’m always up for meeting new people.

Today, I wanted to share some books I’ve read recently.

28 Summers by Elin Hilderbrand

I love Elin HIlderbrand! It is my dream some day to go to Nantucket.  This book was a great-written story and easy to follow along.  However, I just could not agree with it morally.  It is about Mallory and Jake who find each other one weekend in Nantucket and decide to meet up for the next several years.  Same time, same location.  But they both lead their own separate lives for the other 362 days when they are apart.  I just can’t agree with the cheating!  So sorry to say, not my favorite Elin Hilderbrand book.

One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus

This was a fun and easy book to read!  It was about 4 kids that are in detention and one of them end up dying of an allergic reaction!  Of course, the other kids are questioned about what happened, but it ends up taking the whole school to figure it out!  Loved the suspense of this book.

November 9 by Colleen Hoover

The best book I have read in a LONG time!  I read it within a day.  It had the same idea of 28 summers with Ben and Fallon meeting every year on November 9, no matter what.  There is a huge plot twist at the end of the book that I had no idea was coming!  Such a great read!

Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes

Fun, light, chick lit book.  It starts with Evvie losing her husband, Tim, in a car accident on the same day she was planning to leave him.  Then Dean moves into the apartment that is inside her house and you can probably see where the story goes….Lots of twists and turns, but such a fun read.

An Unwanted Guest by Shari Lapena

This book had me wondering who was the killer throughout the whole thing.  It’s about a bunch of guests staying in a motel.  Then, there is a huge ice/snow storm that keeps the guests inside the motel all weekend.  And different people end up being murdered!  Takes a lot for them to figure out how the murders are all connected and who is doing all of the killing.  I am huge fan of Shari Lapena and this book didn’t disappoint!

I have been working on school stuff lately and haven’t read as much, but I plan to do a book review post every month from now on.  I love reading and finding new books through other’s recommendations.

Enjoy your Wednesday!

  1. I have that Shari Lapena book, so yay!!! I’ll probably start it this week!!! I’ve been on a mystery/thriller kick lately!

  2. While I was completely horrified at the arrangement they had… I loved 28 Summers! I really enjoy Colleen Hoover books and haven’t read that one yet; going to add it to my list right now.

  3. I have heard that type of review of 28 summers over and over! I will probably read it this week. I always like Shari Lapena too. I also loved Evvie Drake. Thanks for the recommendations.
