Happy Wednesday, friends!
We had such a good Fall Break and our hearts are full.
Last Thursday, Chris and I had Parent/Teacher conferences until 7:00 p.m. As soon as they were done, we picked the girls up and were on the road for Gatlinburg.
We made it to our cabin at 2:00 in the morning, which was really 3:00 in the morning TN time.
Friday morning we slept in and then headed out to Clingman’s Dome.
Clingman’s Dome is the highest peak in Tennessee at an elevation of 6,643 feet!!
Traffic was crazy this day and it took us about an hour to make it up to the mountain! But it was worth it, because check out these views:
After you got at the top, you had to walk another mile or so <straight> up the mountain to get to the dome!
We were all a little winded after this, but it was so cool to experience this view!
Coming down the mountain was a lot easier, but we were worn out after all this!
That Friday evening, we went to The Island in Pigeon Forge. It was a neat little area that had lots of shops and restaurants.
Paula Deen’s restaurant was located here and the reason we wanted to go.
Chris’s parents ended up eating there, but after seeing their menu and realizing the girls wouldn’t eat hardly anything there, Chris and I took them to Mellow Mushroom instead.
We love Mellow Mushroom!
After supper, we all walked around The Island.
Chris, his mom, and Liz all rode the Smoky Mountain Ferris Wheel and then Emily jumped on the trampoline to end the night since she was too scared to go up in the Ferris wheel!
Saturday morning we started with a nice breakfast at the cabin and then headed into Gatlinburg.
We went to Ripley’s Aquarium. It was FANTASTIC!
The girls <and all the adults> loved all the exhibits!
We walked downtown Gatlinburg after the aquarium and shopped. It was such a neat little town!
We went back to the cabin and chilled for a bit and then Chris and I took the girls to an arcade and let them play games and ride go-carts.
A great end to another great day!
I’ll be back later this week for Part 2 of the trip. Have a great day, friends!

What a fun getaway. How is your mother-in-law doing with her treatments? Looks beautiful!
She is doing amazingly well! They go back to Houston next week for another scan.
What a fun getaway for you all! I love how pretty it is, and also how many fun things there are too do. It looks like you all made the most of your family time and fall break!
