Hello, Tuesday!
Today I am sharing with you a day in the life of Jen post. I want to do one every season to help me remember what a typical day in my life looks like. I randomly choose days on my calendar for each season and then try to document all about that day the best I can.
Last Thursday, August 24, was the day I chose to take pictures and document. Hope you enjoy!
Wake-up, shower, get ready for the day. I hit my snooze button on this particular morning and didn’t wake up until 6:10!
Make bed, go let Happy out of her kennel, start the girls’ breakfast, and finish packing their lunches for them (they do all the dry stuff at night and I pack the cold sandwiches in the morning).
6:45- Girls up and ready for the day. They come upstairs and are SUPER lazy most mornings while they wait for their breakfast to get done. They are allowed to watch TV or get on their electronics if they want to in the mornings.
Go downstairs and inspect the basement. I make sure the girls have their beds made and their clothes are picked up and their bathroom is neat. (OCD, I know!)
Finish getting myself dressed (excuse dirty mirror) and start a load of laundry. Get baby girl up and ready to go and watch the girls fight over her and who gets to play with her/hold her. Also, this particular morning I had to make sure and give everyone their correct medicines they needed.
Out the door and ready to go by 7:20!
Drop baby girl off at daycare. The big girls rode with Chris to school that day, so I only had to make one stop.
In my classroom by 7:45 to prepare for the day. I make sure all my materials are out and ready to go.
I teach 1st-4th hours and then have lunch and my prep time. This year I have 5th hour prep that goes into my lunch hour so I have from 11:40-1:00 off every day. It is a wonderful time to get everything accomplished!
On this day, I went home for lunch and was greeted by Happy. I love coming home to her wagging her tail at me.
I quickly folded a load of laundry and then Chris brought me home lunch. We ran out of lunch meat and he knew I wouldn’t have anything quick to eat for lunch, so he grabbed us McDonald’s.
I ate real fast and talked with Chris for a little bit, and then headed right back to school to do my lesson plans. I also made a few copies and caught up on some grades.
I taught 6th-7th hour and then we have a 25 minute study hall at the end of the day. It is a nice break in the day where the kids work on homework or read, and I’m able to get everything ready for the next day.
The girls walk over to my classroom and tell me all about their day! Chris usually stops by for a minute to see us before he heads to football practice for the evening.
After school, we went and got baby girl from daycare. She went down for a nap when we got home and I worked on my Friday Favorite blog post and did some homework for my Master’s class.
Emily played outside during this time and Elizabeth worked on some homework that she missed from being absent the day before. I unloaded the dishwasher, folded another load of laundry, and fixed supper. Supper that night consisted of chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, and yogurt.
Chris got home at 5:30 and I left immediately to head to a coaches meeting. I am coaching DPR volleyball and we had our first meeting to pick names for teams and learn our practice schedule. We are the red team and I think we will have a pretty good team this year. This is Emily’s first year to be able to play and she’s so excited!
Right after the coaches meeting, I came home and picked the girls up and headed to the high school girls’ volleyball game. It was their first home game. They played Jackson and Varsity ended up winning in 2 sets. The girls had a lot of friends there and had a wonderful night cheering on the Lady Cats. Baby girl was there for a little bit, but then Chris took her home and let me and the girls stay and enjoy the rest of the game. It was past her bedtime and she was getting fussy.
After the volleyball game we cuddled on the couch and talked about our day, the girls showered, and then we put the girls to bed.
I finally laid on the couch for a few minutes and talked to Chris about my day. My chicken nuggets I had earlier weren’t cutting it for me, so Chris ran to Sonic and got me some cheese sticks. It was a yummy late night snack!
In bed and lights out! I was a tired momma.
Hope you’ve enjoyed following a day in my life. I will love looking back at these posts in a few years and remember all the crazy times. I am blessed!
Hope you have a great day today! I’ll be back tomorrow with my monthly What’s Up Wednesday post.
