Hello, friends! This is totally how I am feeling right about now. I haven’t been home since Saturday morning around 7:00 a.m. and the weekend is catching up to me! I really could use one more day to get some things done. As soon as I am done making this blog post, I am headed to bed!!
Friday night after school Chris didn’t have baseball practice so we had a great evening at home. We played volleyball outside, cleaned out the garage and packed everything up that could be packed into a box. The weather was beautiful and it was so nice to be outside and enjoying some sunshine!
Liz had to go to her cheer dress rehearsal from 5:30-8:30 so while she was gone Chris mowed the yard, Emily had a friend over and they played and played and played, and I was able to vacuum and clean my car out.
Later that night I took Addison home and then took my car through the car wash. It desperately needed it with all the rain we have had lately! After Liz made it home from her dress rehearsal, we all showered and headed straight to bed.
Saturday morning started at 6:30 a.m. for me! We had an all day volleyball tournament in Bernie and had to play the first game at 8:00 a.m. I had asked my team to be there by 7:45 a.m. so we left our house around 7:20 to make it there in time. It was just me and Elizabeth because Chris went to work up at Teen Challenge in Cape and Emily spent the whole day with Nana and Papa Bolin getting spoiled.
The last tournament we played in our volleyball team didn’t do very well at all. It was at the beginning of the season and we ended up not winning any of our games during the tournament. On Saturday at this tournament we played the same teams and ended up beating 3 out of the 4 teams! I was SO proud of how well my girls played. They have all improved so much this season and I love watching them play. Even though we won 3 games and only lost 1 game we still didn’t make it to the championship game. Since we had tied with a few of the other teams on head to head competition {we all had 3 wins and 1 loss}, they looked at our point differential and we were a little bit short to make it to the championship. My girls were disappointed but I reminded them how much better they did this tournament compared to our first tournament. Also, that we are a whole year younger than all those teams we played!
Since we didn’t make it to the championship game, we were able to leave Bernie around 1:30 p.m. and were back in Dexter around 2:00 p.m. Elizabeth and I were home long enough to change clothes and grab our bags that were packed to head to St. Louis!
Chris and Emily ended up not going with us to St. Louis because of how crazy the schedule was going to be and Chris needed to stay around Dexter to get some things done around the house. Since Chris and Emily didn’t go, we made plans to go up with my good friend, Christy, and her daughter, Kate. Her husband wasn’t able to go to the competition either, so it worked out well with just us moms/daughters going together and making it a girls trip.
When we got up to St. Louis we made a quick stop at Steak N’ Shake for supper and then headed to the hotel to swim. It was about 7:30 p.m. at this time, so we let the girls swim for a couple hours and then headed back to our hotel room and went to bed. Liz had a great evening with her cheer team swimming, laughing, and having fun! The moms had a great time talking and chatting and watching a woman running on a treadmill in a dress and her hair never moved the whole time! It was quite mesmerizing and entertaining.
Sunday morning started with breakfast at the hotel and then getting ready for our cheer competition!
It takes a lot of work to get the hair and make-up done for a competition! We were finally dressed and ready to head to the arena around 9:15 a.m. I was also able to escape any tears from french-braiding Elizabeth’s hair upside down! That is a HUGE accomplishment, people!
Our girls didn’t compete until 11:30 so we had a little time to watch other performances and enjoy the Mardi Gras competition. I am totally turning into a cheer mom and love the atmosphere at a competition!
While we were waiting for the girls to perform, I checked in with Chris and Emily and they were busy doing yard work and getting a few things fixed up around our house. He also texted me this picture of Emily because they had taken a break from working to go to the park for a little bit. I love this sweet girl so much and can’t believe she is going to be 9 soon!
It was finally time for our girls to perform and they did AMAZING! They scored the highest they have ever scored at a competition with a 92.6%.
After they performed we had about an hour to wait until the awards ceremony. We got Dippin’ Dots ice cream and just hung out. I was able to hang out with one of my BFF’s, Cassie, so it was a great time!
To celebrate World Autism Day, they had a Special Needs cheer team come out and perform for us. The crowd went wild for them and it brought tears to my eyes! It was definitely one of the highlights of the day!
It was finally time for the awards ceremony so all of the teams met down on the floor. This is always my favorite part of the competitions because it is so fun watching all the teams just dance and have a good time! Since this was a Mardi Gras competition they were throwing Mardi Gras beads and masks out into the crowds. It was so FUN! Definitely lots of memories were made for Liz and her teammates.
Our girls ended up placing 4th out of 8 teams! We were super proud of how well they performed because some of the teams we were against had gone to the summit {Nationals} before.
We left after the awards ceremony and stopped at Qdoba for a late lunch. The girls were starving and picked where we ate. It was my first time there and I really liked it.
We made it safely back to Dexter around 5:00 p.m. Just in time for me to unpack, do lots of laundry, go get groceries, and get ready for the upcoming week.
My house is so chaotic right now and there are boxes everywhere, so I’m feeling a little overwhelmed, but I am just accepting it and realizing the next few weeks are going to be crazy until we get moved into our new house! Crazy, but exciting times!
Leaving you with our #selfieSunday. I pray you have a blessed week!
What a fun weekend! I bet you are tired! What a fun weekend though filled with memories. Happy Monday!
Happy Monday to you, also! It was a great weekend, but I am dragging a little bit this morning.
