Happy Wednesday! Today is the girls’ first day back to school from winter break and we are showing our house again this morning, so it’s been a hectic Wednesday so far!
Today I am linking up with Shay, Mel, and Sheaffer for our monthly What’s Up Wednesday post.
What I’m reminiscing about:
My dad’s health is declining and he was just recently diagnosed with dementia. I have found myself reminiscing lately about memories growing up with my family, especially my dad. Dad was always the “nice” parent and hardly ever had to get on to me or Julie. He was also the one who would always spend hours trying to come up with a new prank to pull on you. He was great at setting all the alarm clocks forward and telling me and Julie that we overslept and were late for school. He does anything to be silly and get a good laugh out of his grandkids. He is the king of pledging the hardwood floors and then giving all the grandkids socks so they can slide down the hall. Whatever the memory is, I’m so thankful for everything that my dad stands for and does for us. He loves God and his family more than anything. We don’t really know what the future holds, but I am going to continue making memories with my dad and cherish each moment.
What I’m loving:
I am loving Girl Scout cookies! Our Girl Scout cookies finally came in and I’m loving the new S’mores flavor! If you are able, you seriously need to get a box or 2 or 3….
What we’ve been up to:
Liz’s volleyball team had a donut fundraiser and our team of 9 girls sold close to 80 boxes! I was so proud of them. Liz and I had to deliver the donuts to all the girls after school one day and it made my car smell delicious for days!
We’ve had gorgeous weather lately, so we have been playing outside with the neighbor girls a lot!
We put new ceramic tile in the rest of our bathrooms. We had the tile from when we re-did our master bathroom this summer, just never had time to do the other bathrooms until a few weeks ago. It was LOVELY sharing our master bathroom with everyone for a few days {yeah right!?!?}! The end result looks amazing and we are really pleased with how it turned out.
What I’m dreading:
I can’t really think of anything that I am dreading right now..
What I’m working on:
I have finally decided to go back to school and get my Master’s degree. I had Elizabeth 4 days after graduating college and was thrown into mommy hood and had no desire and/or energy when the girls were younger to get my Master’s degree. Anyways, now the time is right and I am working on enrolling and getting accepted into SEMO’s online graduate program. I am doing it with a bunch of my girlfriends and am glad I will have their moral support! It’s been almost 11 years since I’ve done homework! AAHH!
What I’m excited about:
I am excited for our volleyball season to start! I am coaching Elizabeth’s 4th grade Dexter team and I can’t wait to see how they are going to play. We have practiced our little tails off and they are doing really well with their serving and passing. I just pray that they remember everything we’ve talked about and do well in the games. We are playing all 5th grade teams so we have a little disadvantage, but I’m excited for the girls to improve their skills.
What I’m watching:
THIS IS US, duh?!?!?! I cried all through last night’s episode! I love, love, love this show!
What I’m reading:
Last night I started a new book, Uninvited, by Lysa TerKeurst. I’ve heard great things about this book and can’t wait to dive into it!
What I’m listening to:
MercyMe has a new song out called Even If. You can listen to it here. It really speaks to me right now in my life, because it feels like the devil has been attacking me from so many different areas in my life. The chorus says:
I know You’re able and I know You can
Save through the fire with Your mighty hand
But even if You don’t
My hope is You alone
I’m thankful that no matter what my hope is in the Lord.
What I’m wearing:
Lots and lots of sweatpants! HA Over winter break I lived in sweatpants and a hoodie. I am the first one when we get home from school to change into comfy clothes, take my make up off, and put my hair up in a pony tail. Remember, I am not the one you want to take fashion advice from.
What I’m doing this weekend:
Friday night we have volleyball practice for our team. Saturday Liz has a birthday party so she’s staying around Dexter, but Emily and I are planning to go to Doniphan to see my parents and sister. Sunday is church and then another volleyball practice that afternoon. I’m hoping we can clean out our garage since Chris’ boat is in the shop getting serviced for the upcoming year and I’ll have more room to clean and move things around. I also know that I will have papers to grade since I am giving a test on Friday in all of my classes.
What I’m looking forward to next month:
March Madness!!!!! Chris and I are huge college basketball fans. I am also looking forward to our spring break and Elizabeth’s volleyball season.
Hope you all have a great Wednesday and rest of the week. I’ll be back on Friday for my Friday Faves!
