Meet and Greet Tuesday

Meet and Greet Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!  It’s one of my favorite days of the week because it is Meet and Greet Tuesday on my blog.

This week I had the chance to interview Sarah from Meet the Shaneyfelts.  She is a fellow teacher and momma to sweet Harrison!

Here is what she had to say:

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Sarah and I am a wife to Dustin and a momma to Harrison.  I’m a 7th grade English teacher.  I love reading, baking, reality TV, Christmas, sending and receiving mail, and shopping!

How long have you been blogging and what inspired you to start blogging?
I actually blogged in college my senior year and then didn’t keep that up after graduation.  I started this blog a few months after I got married in 2014 to document our daily lives as newlyweds.

How did you come up with the name of your blog?
My blog name is our wedding hashtag!!  One of my friends had named her blog after her wedding hashtag and I thought that was perfect for me, too.

Of all your posts you have written, which is your favorite and why?
My favorite posts are actually posts that I never thought I would ever write—my posts on infertility and adoption.  I decided to go public with our struggle with infertility in hopes that I could point people to Christ in our suffering and I’m so happy to say that I have been able to have multiple conversations with people about that, and I’ve also been able to pray for lots of people who would reach out to me.  I was able to show people that while the suffering was real and hard, my joy would never be found in being a mom but in Christ.  Once I accepted that, I was so much happier.  Here’s the post where I first announced our struggle to get pregnant .  Here’s where I wrote about my miscarriage.  And this is the surprise.

You need some encouragement.  Who is your go to person for a little pick me up?
In real life, my mom, sister, and best friend Janie are my constant encouragers.  If I wanted to read a blog that would encourage me, I would probably read Shay Shull’s blog because she’s my favorite and always motivating!

You have friends coming over to dinner tomorrow night.  What are you going to make for a meal?
I would make something super easy—enchilada casserole with a salad and for dessert I’d make a cobbler of some sort!

You are planning an evening out.  What’s your favorite go-to restaurant for a fun time?
I’m all about eating locally rather than chain restaurants.  There’s a restaurant in the city next to us called The Railyard that I really love and the ambiance is fun too.
If you could have a weekend away, just you and your husband, where would you go?
We’d probably stay close by since it’s just a weekend away and go to Ross Bridge to relax by the pool and enjoy the spa!  If we had longer than a weekend, I really am dying to go to Asheville!

What are some pet peeves of yours, and why?
People who do not follow the rules!!  I am such a rule follower by nature and I just don’t get it when people don’t follow simple rules.

What’s your go to type of music?
I like an eclectic mix—anything from Dave Matthews Band to Led Zeppelin to Frank Sinatra. I basically like everything except country music!  I also love live music and had a concert we had tickets to get rescheduled for 2021 because of the quarantine, so I’m hoping life is back to normal next year.

What’s your idea of the perfect family day?
Honestly anything when it’s just the three of us!!  Ideally it’d be a day at the zoo and then dinner at a really fun restaurant—or even a day swimming…I’m not picky about it haha!

Favorite Scripture verse and why?
My favorite is Isaiah 26: 3-4   “You keep him in perfect peach whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.  Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”   I leaned on this verse while waiting to be a mother and it’s still one I love.  I also love the entire book of Romans!

Best advice you would give to a new blogger?
Be true to yourself instead of trying to copy someone else.  Comment on lots of blogs to build community, and have fun with it!  Don’t put pressure on yourself because that takes all the fun out of it.

  1. I knew Sarah was a teacher but somehow I pictured her teacher elementary school. Her blogging advice is spot on!

  2. I have never met Sarah through the blogging world! She sounds great and I can’t wait to go over and read her posts!!

  3. I read your blog and Sarah’s.They are both fun to read. I thought about blogging in 2010 and after a couple of posts, I decided I am a blog reader and not a blog writer!
