A Day in the Life

Happy Thursday! Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday. This has been a long, cold week.

I documented my day on Tuesday and wanted to share it with you today.

I woke up at 6:15 a.m. and only hit snooze one time!

I immediately read my devotional for the day.

Followed by listening to the Podcast that goes with it. I am loving The Bible Recap so far!

Went into the living room and greeted my family and made the girls’ breakfast and emptied the dishwasher.

Then I went and made my bed .

And then got ready for the day. I am always dressed and ready to go by 7:00 a.m. every morning.

I go back into the living room and eat my breakfast and talk about the day ahead with the family. Chris and I are doing the Daniel Fast right now, so my breakfast only consisted of this Belvita breakfast biscuit and water.

We leave the house around 7:20 a.m. because I have to be at work by 7:30 this year to take my temperature and stuff.

Lizzie comes and hangs out with me in the mornings and I love this time with her. Emily is too cool for me and goes and finds her friends to hang out with in the gym.

We get our advisory kids this year first thing in the morning around 7:45 a.m. (Thanks, COVID)

Kids are allowed to get on their phones though and just hang out. While they are doing this I usually make sure I have everything ready to go for the day.

I teach 1st-4th hours before I have a break. I teach 8th grade math and then one hour of HS Algebra 1 during this time. I love my classes this year! This specific day I was teaching about functions and domain and range to my 8th graders.

I run home at lunch and grab a quick bite to eat. On the menu that day was a whole grain sandwich thin with organic peanut butter on top and some Off The Beaten Path veggie chips.

I go right back to school and it is my prep time. I have 45 minutes to get everything caught up. I answer emails, grade TONS of papers, make a few copies, and plan for next week’s lessons all at the same time.

I teach my 6-7th hours and then have my advisory kids again for 30 minutes at the end of the day. This is basically like a study hall time, so the kids are working independently on stuff and I can get things caught up again.

I love ending the day like this. It helps keep this math teacher sane! On this day, I entered lots of grades into the grade book on the computer.

After school I had scheduled a Walmart grocery pick up. It was just a small order of things I had forgotten to get this past weekend.

And when you live in Dexter you can’t go anywhere without getting stuck by a train. HA

Once we got home from school we decided to run over to PB to go to the pet store and Academy. Liz needed crickets for her gecko and Chris wanted to look at tree stands that were on sale.

We made it back home just in time to make supper. (Around 5:30 p.m.)

The girls had chicken fries and chips and I boiled Chris and I some potatoes (plant based butter on them) and fixed us whole grain organic pasta with organic marinara sauce. This Daniel Fast is hard y’all, but worth it!

After supper I cleaned up the kitchen and then did some chores.

I was able to put a new B up on my B wall.

Then I helped Emily vacuum and clean out her fish tank.

Then Emily reminded me that we needed to make more Uncrustables for her lunches this week. She is the pickiest eater ever and loves Uncrustables with only peanut butter!

I vacuumed the whole upstairs after Ripley got ahold of bone and shredded it to pieces.

And one last cleaning up of the kitchen before closing it for the night.

I had a Zoom meeting at 7:30 for the girls’ volleyball tournament this weekend.

And then I was finally able to sit down and watch This is Us! I bawled all the way through it! It was such a well written episode about Randell’s birth mother.

I put the girls to bed, switched out laundry, and had a late night snack.

Finally went to bed around 9:45 to read my book.

And lights out around 10:15!
