Michigan Trip 2019~ Part 1

Good morning, friends!

Thank you for all the kind words and encouragement yesterday. I’m so thankful for each and every one of you!

Today, I wanted to share with you the first part of our 15 year anniversary trip to beautiful Michigan! (AKA~ find 15 lighthouses for 15 years of marriage if you ask Chris). HA

We really had no idea or set plans on where we wanted to go for our road trip.

Chris wanted south and I wanted north. I ultimately won the battle (of course).

We headed up north and planned to take the Lake Michigan Circle Tour.

On our way up there, I immediately started planning a few things, but still we didn’t have anything set in stone.

We drove alllllll day on Sunday. (I was on a quest to find pretty lighthouses and this detoured us some~ more on that in a later post). It was rainy and cool and I was really starting to think I should’ve let Chris win the battle and head south.

We finally found water and stopped for the night in Traverse City, MI.

After finding a good hotel and sleeping in, the next day we headed to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Park in Empire, MI.

It was a rainy morning, but it quickly turned into a beautiful day!

We did the Empire Bluff trail at this park. It was 1.5 miles long, but didn’t seem that long at all.

It was a great walking trail and the views of Lake Michigan from the top were spectacular!

We loved this place and spent a lot of time at the top just looking at the views and enjoying each other’s company.

Next, we headed more towards the Upper Peninsula and stopped at many lakes and parks along the way to enjoy the views. Pictures don’t do it justice on how beautiful Michigan was!

We stopped and ate supper at Mackinaw City and then crossed the Mackinac Bridge over to St. Ignace, where we stayed for the night.

The next day we went to Mackinac Island and it was the best day of the trip by far! Come back tomorrow and read part 2 of our trip.

Hope your Tuesday is great!
