Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites

It’s finally Friday!  What a week!  It’s been fun, but tiring all at the same time.  We traveled to Jackson last night for MS volleyball and our 8th graders won but our 7th graders lost in 3 sets. Liz’s team had a tri-match here between Bloomfield and Malden and beat both teams! Liz also served 15 in a row to win a game, so I’m going to be a proud mom and brag a minute!

Today, I am linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for some Friday Favorites.

ONE

Liz got her overhand serve over for the first time in a game Monday night!  I wasn’t able to be there and hate that I missed it, but Chris recorded it!  She’s been working hard on getting her overhand serve just right and finally was able to do it in a game!  I was so proud of her.  Excuse the poor quality of recording, Chris got excited and put the phone down when he was cheering after it went over!  LOL

TWO

A few weeks ago some of our Beta students went to the Jr. Beta convention in Poplar Bluff and took home first place in their category that qualifies them to go to Nationals in Savannah, GA this summer.  I was especially proud of the teams Chris helped work with, the Robotics and Technology team.  Chris doesn’t like a lot of recognition on him, but he is a WONDERFUL teacher and loves working with kids on all things coding/technology.

THREE

Emily has become attached to one of my volleyball players and it is the sweetest thing.  She thinks her name is Darcie, even though her name is Dulcie, and Emily refuses to call her anything but Darcie.  The name has “stuck” and I find myself calling her Darcie sometimes too.  Anyways, Emily wrote her a note on my board at school (I’m Dulcie’s math teacher), and then she wrote Emily a note back.  I love that ALL of my volleyball girls are such great role models for younger girls.  They make me so proud!

FOUR

Have you heard the song “LipGloss”?!?!  I hadn’t until they played it at our volleyball tournament the other weekend and EVERY girl started dancing and singing with it.  It’s a funny song and has a catchy tune, so I have found myself singing it this week.  Listen to it here.

FIVE

I finally finished the rough draft on my research paper!  This class is brutal and reminds me every day why I teach math instead of English.  HA

Hope y’all have a great weekend.  We have a volleyball tournament all day on Saturday and a cheer competition all day on Sunday.  We are also counting down the days until Spring Break!

  1. Yay!!! I loved that video of Emily’s serve. Her form was great. We are finally getting into all the Spring ball here, and I’m not upset about it. 🙂 Enjoy your weekend, friend!

  2. When I got my Masters I felt like I actually got it in Microsoft Word. Hahaha! It is SO tough! Way to finish your rough draft. How exciting for Emily and her serve. I also like that she left that note on your board. Have a great weekend!
