A Day in the Life

It’s our last Monday of the school year!?! Hard to believe, but we are all ready for summer!

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend. Saturday, I spent all day shopping with my mom and sister. Yesterday we went to church with my mom and Nini and then enjoyed the afternoon at the house swimming! Chris’s Mom is in Houston again for another procedure, so we celebrated with her Thursday night and ate at Lambert’s. <Please pray for good test results today!>

Instead of my normal weekend recap on a Monday, today I am sharing a day in the life post. I always like reading other blogger’s posts like this and try to do one every season to remember what my day to day life was like.

Here was my last Tuesday:

Woke up at 6:26! It’s getting later and later each day!

Make sure the girls lunches are packed and Liz’s carb count is correct.

Make my bed, start a load of laundry, make the girls some muffins, and unload the dishwasher.

Get dressed for the day while the girls are eating breakfast. I then make sure they have everything they need for the day and are dressed appropriately for the day!

Drop Liz off at school. We take turns taking the girls to school and we’ve been separating them lately, so it was my day to take Liz.

Get to school and make sure I have everything for the day’s lesson. On this day I taught a lesson entitled, “How much insulin does Liz need?” Tons of math involved and real-world situations.

I teach 1st-4th hours before my lunch. I didn’t take many pics of my classes, but I did snap one at the end of 1st hour.

For lunch, I went home really fast and grabbed a sandwich and cheese balls! I also switched my laundry out.

I went back to school and it was my planning time. I had to meet with my principals about a class I am teaching next year. This guy picked me up at the end of my prep (we have the same planning time) and went and took me to get a lemonade.

I taught 6th-8th hours and then headed home with my crew. (Yes, Chris and I teach at the same school and have the same schedule)

Once we got home, I folded all the laundry and then went outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather with our dog, Happy.

We went and ate at Huddle House for supper that evening because Elizabeth had a school event at 5:45 and we were pressed for time.

After Huddle House, we went to the school for Liz’s 5th grade Wax Museum project. Every 5th grade student had to pick a famous person to research, create a poster about them, and memorize a 1 minute speech about them also.

Here we are waiting for it to start. Liz was already by her poster.

Liz chose to be Fredrick Banting, the creator of insulin! She wore her JDRF shirt, had a lab coat on, her smart glasses on, and laid out a lot of her insulin supplies for people to see.

During the wax museum, the students stood next to their poster like a statue. The parents and other community members would walk around and “push” the button on the 5th grader’s hand to make them come to life and share their speech.

Liz did an amazing job and was able to meet four other diabetics during this project. I enjoyed seeing all of Liz’s classmates and friends and how well they did with their speeches! It was a great hour of famous people.

After the wax museum we came home and I watered my flowers while Chris and the girls played volleyball.

It was at this time (about 7:30 p.m.) that I knew I needed to take myself to the doctor. My throat had been SO sore all day! I kept telling myself it would get better as the day went on, but that wasn’t the case. I was feeling way worse.

I headed to our Wal-Mart clinic. It took about 45 minutes before I saw the doctor, but sure enough it was strep!

I grabbed my antibiotic at the pharmacy and then treated myself to an ice-cream sundae to make myself feel better!

I made it home in time to tuck the girls into bed, do a few things around the house, take my medicine, then hit the hay!

This Tuesday definitely didn’t end up like I wanted, but that’s what’s interesting about doing these posts! Never know what you’ll get!
