Tuesday Talk

Tuesday Talk

Happy Tuesday! It’s supposed to be a gorgeous day!

I am taking Emily to the orthodontist today to start Phase 1 of her braces! She’s so excited!

She’s only getting her palette expander today and then we go back next week for top braces.

Today I am linking up with Erika and Ashley for Tuesday Talk. It’s where we can talk about anything and everything.

I wanted to talk today all about make-up!?!?

I am not a very “girly” girl and don’t spend a lot of time getting ready in the mornings. I was never taught how to do a lot of make-up or has it been a priority of mine before. However, I have noticed with my skin getting older, I need to start taking better care of it.

I was not blessed with great skin and have a very oily and acne prone skin. I have a great face wash I use and love, but I can’t seem to find a make-up routine that I like.

Teaching 8th graders and having two daughters, I hear a lot about make-up! Highlighting, contour, clay coverage foundation, pressed powder, setting spray, fake eyelashes, etc! So many choices!

I have been YouTubing and trying to come up with better ways to apply my make-up and what brands are best for my skin.

I have come to the conclusion that everyone has their own opinion on what they like and I just need to try some things to see if I like them or not.

I know contouring isn’t for me and I need something quick and easy to do in the mornings. In the summer time I hardly ever wear make-up, so this is more for the school year.

What make-up do you love? Is there a brand you can’t live without? How long do you spend every day putting your make-up on?

I’d love to hear from you! I made a quick survey using SurveyMonkey that I’d love for you to fill out. It only has 5 questions and will let me know more about how others do make-up. If you have any other advice on easy make-up routines- I’m all ears. If y’all can’t come through for me I am going to resort to asking my 8th graders how to get a good make-up routine!

Find the survey here.

As I was looking at make-up and watching videos, this quote popped up on my IG.

Kind of stung a little and made me remember that I should be more worried about my inside beauty than the outward appearance!

I also was reminded to make sure I’m spending more time in God’s word than in the mirror every morning!

Have a great Tuesday! I’ll be back tomorrow with Wordless Wednesday.

  1. So in the morning I basically just wear powder and mascara because I value my sleep and wait until the last possible second to wake up. HOWEVER! I’d like to think I’m pretty good at doing my make-up when I actually try. I use rose water from Trader Joe’s first. Then I use Ulta concealer/foundation. Follow that up with e.l.f. powder. I use Too Faced blush on my cheek bones and nose. I use Essence eye shadow base from Ulta on my eyes then use BH Cosmetics eye shadow palette on my eyes (I found an easy tutorial for blending three different eye shadow colors on my lids on Youtube). Follow it up with some Colourpop eye liner and mascara. Finish it off with Ulta makeup setting spray. I also use Smashbox Always On Matte lipstick because it DOES NOT GO AWAY! Seriously the best lipstick I have ever owned. 🙂 It sounds complex but I can usually do a decent looking full-face of make-up in about 15-20 min.

  2. I can’t wait to hear your results. This is one area I really struggle in because my mom was super low maintenance so she taught me what she did but she didn’t do much past eyes and blush. So I added in some tinted moisturizer, powder, eye shadow, eye liner and lipstick but I tried to contour the other day and it didn’t work. My favorite beauty blogger (who is a Christian) is K8_smallthings on Instagram. She is so sweet and super knowledgeable!

  3. I just discovered a make-up game changer, friend. It’s from Senegence, and it’s their CCTM. (Color-correcting tinted moisturizer)! I have several friends who sell it, but Maegan from The Modern Tulip (@themoderntulip) sold me on this product. It’s quick & easy to apply, and it offers such great light-weight coverage. Totally check it out.
