Friday Favorites

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!  I feel like I have been out of the blogging loop lately.  Life has been busy!  I can’t wait to catch up on all of my favorite blogs to read and get back to blogging regularly.

Emily came home yesterday throwing up but has acted fine ever since.  She’s going to school today so hopefully she’s fine and I pray Liz doesn’t get it!  It is so much harder on a Type 1 Diabetic when they get the stomach bug.

Today, I am linking up with Andrea, Erika, and Narci for some Friday Favorites.  It’s been a while since I’ve done Friday Favorites!

ONE

It isn’t a favorite of mine that volleyball season is over because I will miss my middle schoolers, but it’s a favorite of mine on how well they did this season!  We didn’t get the ending we wanted in our county tournament (2nd place), but that doesn’t make me any less proud of these girls.  Both the 7th and 8th-grade teams had a terrific season and made my first year of coaching so enjoyable!  There were definitely a lot of memories made that I will cherish forever.  I know this group of girls will go far in life!  They are awesome!

TWO

I have had a ROUGH week!  It has been a mixture of a lot of different things, but I have just felt anxious and unsettled all week.  I follow a TID mom group on Facebook and there was an 18-year-old high school volleyball player that passed away from complication of diabetes (DKA).  This just made my momma heart hurt for that family! It also made me start researching stories about DKA and I fell into the rabbit hole of reading stories.  It made me so sad, and I just had this consuming fear of being scared for Elizabeth (and all T1D’s).

I have also had some feelings of not being appreciated.  I know everyone feels like this sometimes, and I know I’m just feeling sorry for myself, but it was a rough week of feeling like this.  I volunteer and do so much, I try to be a great friend to others and reach out, and sometimes I just don’t feel it is reciprocated like it should be back to me.

Then there is the stress of this college class that is making me anxious with my research paper due tonight!

HOWEVER, this verse was the verse of the day yesterday and immediately put things into perspective for me.  I am giving all my cares to God and know He will take care of me.  I need to learn to be content, keep reaching out to others and show love to others and pray for things I can’t change.

THREE

Both of my girls are my favorite this week!  I was talking to another mom about how hard her kids were to wake up in the morning to get ready for school and I was reminded of how awesome my girls are.  They hardly ever cause us fits, they are VERY responsible and do things independently, and they are just cool kids.  They are growing up on us and changing, but are so much fun to be around!  I am blessed to be their momma!  While I was feeling down in the dumps this week, I was feeling sorry for Elizabeth because it just seems since her diagnosis some friends are scared of her and it makes me sad for her but I realize that’s how it’s going to be.  Then, I am reminded how awesome of a kid she is and NO ONE understands what she goes through on a daily basis and not many kids could handle what she handles and still continue to smile every day like she does.

FOUR

My cousin made a new flower arrangement for my dad’s tombstone for this spring/summer!  I thought it turned out GREAT!  She is so talented and I know my dad would love it.  Thanks, Rob-Bob!

FIVE

Carrie Underwood’s new song, Cry Pretty.  It was just released this week and is AWESOME!  I have and will always be a Carrie Underwood fan.

Hope y’all have a great weekend!  Liz has volleyball games tonight and tomorrow is the Teen Challenge banquet that we are attending.  Enjoy this beautiful day the Lord has made!

  1. I love Carrie Underwood so I need to go listen. I had a hard week this week too…I am wondering if it’s the time of year and so much filling our plates. I sure hope you know how amazing you are, but it never hurts to hear. It’s so hard to read about ailments on the internet and how scary they are!!! I know you rocked your research paper and yay for it almost being DONE!!!! PS Your girls pictures are too cute, love their tops!

  2. Just wanted to drop a quick comment and say hang in there. We all have those days/weeks when we feel alone or unappreciated. I hope you have a good weekend and some better days ahead. 🙂
