Positive Attracts Positive

Happy Thursday, friends!  And Happy Spring!  Our weather here in Missouri is confused that it’s spring because it’s only been about 40 degrees the past few days.  But, today is supposed to be a beautiful, sunny day and I can’t wait!

I have blogged about this before and I’ll continue to blog about this for as long as I need the reminder, but I really have been dealing lately with negativity and how it effects us.

Are you ever around people that gripe all the time?    Do you think some people don’t like a certain person so much they would complain about the color of t-shirt they wore on a certain day just to complain?  Do you catch yourself seeing the worst in every situation possible?  Do you get mad that there is ALWAYS a train in your way on 1 Mile when you need to get to the other side of town (Dexter people will understand this)?

God has been dealing with me and checking my attitude about certain things lately.  I don’t ever want to be a discourager or be known as a negative person.  I have to watch my attitude because I have two little girls that watch everything that I say and mock my behavior.

Just the other day Elizabeth was griping that she always had to take a shower and wishes she could just skip one night of taking a shower (she hates showering, people).  I was upset with her attitude, but then I remembered that I had just been complaining to anyone that was listening that I was tired of always cooking and cleaning every night.  I quickly realized she is getting that complaining spirit from no one other than me!

So..I have been looking up Scriptures this week and really praying that God will let me always see the good in every situation.  I know it’s hard and sometimes it’s okay to have a pity party, but overall I want to have a great attitude and lift others up!

Here are a few Scriptures:

Proverbs 13:20 “Whoever walks with the wise, but the companion of the fools will suffer harm.”

Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the Earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored?  It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.”

1 Corinthians 15:33 “Do not be deceived:  Bad company ruins good morals.”

James 1:19 “Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger;”

If you are a negative person, I encourage you today to start looking for the positives in your life.  Believe me, I am speaking to myself as I am typing this blog post.  It is so easy to get caught up in thinking your life is unfair or why do certain things happen to good people, etc.  But I truly believe that positive attracts positive!

I just recently met a fellow Type One Diabetic, Kelly, through the blogging world and have enjoyed her page so much! It is full of inspiration and hope for my Liz. Anyways, she had a quote on her page the other day that I loved and had never heard before.

It states, “There are enough drains in the world. Choose to be a fountain.”

Here are some other fun quotes to leave you with.  I hope you have a great Thursday!

  1. I love this, and I am very humbled by your inspiration through our shared experience. I write about negativity a lot, and it’s OK to feel negative, but the difference is some people recognize it and some people don’t. You recognize the importance of staying positive, and that makes all the difference. Believe me, I am as inspired by you and Liz and how you are all handling this new journey with such fierceness and positivity. Enjoy your day!
