Happy Monday morning, friends! What a wonderful weekend~ the weather was beautiful and we enjoyed our time together.
I woke up sad this morning because today it’s been 4 months since my dad died. They say it’s easier with time, but to me it seems like it’s getting a little harder because I am realizing it’s definite that he’s gone and I won’t see him again this side of heaven. Grief stinks.
Today I am linking up with Johannah and Heather and sharing our weekend with you.
Friday night we let both girls have a friend over for a sleepover. We had a later time for our volleyball game on Saturday, so it was a good weekend to let friends stay over.
We left school and headed home to let the girls play and play and play. They played volleyball outside, we went and ate supper at McDonald’s, and then they played with slime and volleyball with squishes. It was nice to hear giggles and laughter coming from the basement.
Chris went hunting up at Cape that evening because he said he was way outnumbered and it was a great night to sit in his blind. I was able to catch up on my Grey’s Anatomy that I missed Thursday night and make my meatballs for my nephew’s birthday party.
Saturday morning I took the girls to Huddle House for breakfast and then we played our volleyball game. It was another WIN for the red team! It was a really good game with lots of volleys back and forth. Thanks to my great friend, Jona, for the volleyball pics!
After the volleyball game, the girls and I came home, showered, and cleaned up the house from their sleepover. I also went and got groceries and did all my college homework for the week. Chris got home from working at Teen Challenge around 4:00 and we headed straight to Doniphan for the evening.
We went to my sister and brother-in-law’s house to celebrate my nephew, Tyler, turning 13. We had a great evening together visiting with family and eating good food. The kids played Capture the Flag all evening and had a blast together.
Sunday morning started out LAZY! We decided to let the girls sleep in as late as they wanted because it’s been about two weeks since we didn’t have to wake them up for something. They both ended up sleeping until 10:00, so we skipped church and stayed at home. It was a nice, lazy morning together, but I still hate missing church!
Sunday afternoon we had another volleyball game and ended up with another win! Emily served excellent and got our team 5 points in a set. I love watching all the girls improve throughout the season. We only have two more games left. I am ready to have our weekends back, but I will miss watching them play.
After the volleyball game, we enjoyed playing outside together as a family and the beautiful fall weather. Chris’s parents ended up stopping by and visiting with us for a while. They had gotten both girls a onesie and Liz’s finally came in, so they brought it to her. {Emily had already gotten hers the other day.} Liz is the prettiest unicorn I have ever seen!
Sunday night we watched football, played cards, and got everything ready for the week.
Leaving you with our #selfieSunday! I pray you have a blessed week!

I see pictures, but can’t read all of it. No words
I think I fixed it. Not sure what is going on.
What a great weekend! Brandon would have done the same thing (left to go hunting). Hahaha! What a great weekend full of family and friends. I need to get caught up on Greys soon! Happy Monday!
It was the two hour season premiere. SO good!
I’m loving those unicorn sleepers. I think i need one for myself😂 I love seeing all of our volleyball pictures! Congrats on your team’s victories, and best of luck this season!
Thanks, Britt! Loved your recap as well. We are still undefeated right now with our team, but we play some tough teams the next two games. Have a great week!
Awe… I’m sorry to read about your dad, and I can’t imagine how you must feel without him, even four months {or years!} later. Hugs!
Thanks, Bri. We lost him back in June and it’s still so hard. He is so much better off and in no more pain, but it’s still so hard.
What a fun weekend! I have the same curtains hanging in my living room! 🙂
Great minds think alike! 😊
What a fun weekend. It looked like a fun evening outdoors celebrating :). I love this time of year and bonfires. xoxo ERIN
