What's Up Wednesday?

What’s Up Wednesday?

Happy Wednesday!  Hope your week is off to a great start.

Today I am linking up with Shay, Mel, and Sheaffer to share my monthly What’s Up Wednesday post.

The month of June truly flew by for us!  I can’t believe it’s almost over.

What I’m reminiscing about:

My dad passed away on June 2.  This whole month I have been reminiscing about old times and great memories with him.  I’ve also heard lots of family members tell old stories about memories with dad.  I wrote a blog post all about my dad and memories I share with him.  Read it here.  My dad was truly a one of a kind guy and is greatly missed.

What I’m loving:

While we stayed at my sister’s house, she introduced me to these BelVita breakfast biscuits.  I LOVE the Cinnamon Brown Sugar ones and can’t get enough of them.  They are so good!

What we’ve been up to:

My family has gotten together and started fixing up my mom’s house.  That has consumed a lot of our time lately.  We have been painting, laying down new floor, helping clean the garage, etc.  We’ve also helped my sister and my best friend put a pool up at their house.  I joke with Chris that we need to go into the pool installation business.  He says we are officially retiring after we finish helping Cassie and Travis today with theirs.  It’s a lot of work!

We have found time to have fun during all of this as well.  We have swam, went on a few adventures, and watched a lot of movies.  Summer time is so nice to be able to do whatever you want, whenever you want!

What I’m dreading:

I can’t think of anything I am dreading at the moment.

What I’m working on:

I have been working on a lot of homework lately!  At first it felt like I was using every free moment I had to work on homework, but now I am in a groove of when my assignments are due and it’s becoming easier for me.  Right now I have two classes at the same time, so it was difficult to keep track of everything.  I keep telling myself it will be worth it in the end when I have my Master’s Degree!

What I’m excited about:

I’m excited about the 4th of July!  We always make it a big deal in our household.  The girls make every holiday more fun.  I love to see their excitement with everything.

What I’m watching:

I’ve not been watching a lot of TV lately.  I just haven’t had time.  We have declared Wednesday nights as family movie night and have watched a few movies lately.  We watched A Dog’s Purpose and then Beauty and the Beast the next week.  We plan to watch Moana tonight together as a family.

What I’m reading:

Currently I’m reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.  I have actually read quite a few great books this month that I can’t wait to share with you tomorrow in my June Book Review.  I just started The Lovely Bones yesterday, but so far it’s good.

What I’m listening to:

I have been listening to a lot of sermons lately from Pastor Jason Jordan.  He preaches at West Side Church of God in Poplar Bluff.  He is a very anointed speaker and I love how he delivers the Word of God.  A lot of my friends go to his church and he married a Doniphan gal is how I got started listening to his sermons.  Check them out here.  You will be blessed!

What I’m wearing:

Still wearing my Nike shorts and tank tops.  I am on the hunt for a new swimsuit for the beach in a few weeks, but am not having any luck finding one I like.

What I’m doing this weekend:

This weekend we have a lot planned.  Friday we are going to take the girls to see the new movie, Despicable Me 3.  Saturday we plan to go to Doniphan to help at mom’s house again all day and then stay over there for their fireworks and 4th of July celebration.  Sunday we have a big Family Day planned at Teen Challenge with Chris’s parents.  My father in law will preach at chapel that morning and then they will have a big firework display that evening.  We are looking forward to a great weekend!

What I’m looking forward to next month:

We are headed to the beach in July!  We also are going to make a trip to Springfield to visit Chris’s Grandma Welch and see his cousins up there.

Hope you enjoy the last few days left in June!

  1. Oh I read The Lovely Bones a few years ago, and it still freaks me out a little. It’s a good read..just eerie! I love Belvita crackers for breakfast or a snack between practices. Praying for you still, friend!

  2. I am so sad to hear about your dad’s home going as I am new here! Praying for you through this grief and pain! That pool shot looks lovely! We have a guy in our church that was really blessed by Teen Challenge, such an amazing story of God’s redemption in his life! I am so glad Britt Hensley mentioned you in her Blogger recognition award and you have popped over. I am delighted to get to know you better! xoxo ERIN PS sisters in Christ 🙂

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Erin! I love your blog and glad we could connect.
My father in law is the Executive Director at the Teen Challenge in Cape Girardeau, MO. It is a wonderful ministry that definitely changes lives.
Losing my dad was so hard and I still grieve every day for him. I miss him so much! However, I do have a peace knowing he was such a strong Christian man and is in Heaven waiting for me to spend eternity with him.
So thankful for this blogging community. Have a great day!

  3. I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of your father!! What a tough time you must be going through. I’ve heard great things about those Belvita breakfast biscuits. Do they taste more like a cracker or a cookie? The cinnamon sugar ones taste super yummy!

  4. You have all been so busy. I bet you will not want to pick up a paintbrush for awhile either. 🙂 I hope the friend party went well. We love family movie nights too. Let me know how Despicable Me 3 goes. I love those movies so much and want to see this one too!
