What's Up Wednesday?

What’s Up Wednesday?

Happy Wednesday!  Hope your week is off to a great start.  Today we are letting Emily have her friend birthday party, so I am getting ready for about 10 little girls to come over and swim.  Emily is so excited and I love watching her interact with her friends so I think it will be a great afternoon!

Today I am linking up with Shay, Mel, and Sheaffer to share my monthly What’s Up Wednesday post.

We are having beautiful weather so far this week and are loving summer time!  Hope it has been beautiful weather where you are too!

What I’m reminiscing about:

Last Saturday Emily turned 9.  I have found myself reminiscing about her birth and early days.  I am working on a blog post soon to remember everything we went through with her.  Long story short, Chris and I were told she probably wouldn’t make it, but the Lord was on our side and she is our miracle baby.  I’m so thankful the Lord healed Emily and brought her out of all of her sickness.  Looking at her today you would never know she was a very sick little girl.  She is a feisty, full of life 9 year old and I love her to pieces!

What I’m loving:

Summer time!  It’s been SO nice not setting an alarm or having to worry about being on a strict routine or schedule.  We are enjoying swimming any time we want and staying up way too late!

What we’ve been up to:

We have been visiting my dad in the nursing home every chance we get.  He is doing really well and working really hard in physical therapy.  In this picture he is still rocking his cool hair do.  Hopefully today he gets a buzz cut!

We started our new Adventure Tuesday for the summer.  I blogged about our first adventure here.  This week we are doing Adventure Thursday since Elizabeth still wasn’t feeling the best for Adventure Tuesday.  Can’t wait to share with you where we are going this week.

We are also waiting to get our new house approved for fostering.  We were put on the do not call list for a while, but now that construction is finished we are waiting on our social worker to come out and approve our new house.  We are hoping they will come out soon so we can get back on the call list to accept kids that need loved into our home!

What I’m dreading:

Homework!  I start my master’s degree in a few weeks and already am dreading the homework.  It’s been 11 years since I’ve gone to school so I hope I can remember how to be a good student again!

What I’m working on:

I’ve been spending a lot of time decorating our new house and going through closets.  When we moved in we did a lot of remodeling and then with everything that happened with my dad, I haven’t had a lot of time to devote to our new house.  Since things are finally slowing down and construction is done, I’ve been going through each room of the house and decorating and/or getting ideas of how I want to decorate.  We are loving our new house!

Here is a pic of our master bedroom!  I finally hung one picture up on the wall and some curtains, so I felt productive.  We are still looking for the perfect headboard and bench for the end of the bed to complete the look before we decorate more.  I also can’t decide if I should put a curtain on that other window in the corner or not.  You can’t see the other side of the bed, but there is a window with a curtain on that side too.  That third window is kind of out of place and not sure if a curtain would look good or not.  Decisions, decisions…

What I’m excited about:

This might make me sound like a horrible parent, but the girls are going to church camp in a few weeks so Chris and I get a whole week to ourselves and I’m so excited!  We plan to go to the river, sleep in, and just enjoy each other’s company.  Yes, I will miss my girls, but I know they will be having fun and I get Chris all to myself.

What I’m watching:

Since it’s summer, I’ve been able to watch Price is Right every day.  I am a huge Price is Right fan and am passing on that love to my girls just like their Papa Tim did to me.

We have also been watching LOTS of NBA basketball at our house.  I don’t think we missed any of the playoff games.  We can’t wait to watch the finals and think it’s going to be another great match-up!  We are true LeBron fans so we are cheering for the Cavs all the way!

What I’m reading:

Currently I’m not reading anything right now.  I just finished “The Nightingale” a few days ago and haven’t made it to the library to get another book.   I hope to make it to the library sometime this week.

What I’m listening to:

Today’s Country Music on Pandora has been playing on repeat while we are swimming or outside.  It is not my first choice, but it is slowly growing on me.

What I’m wearing:

Nike shorts and a tank top is what you will find me in from now until August when I have to go back to the real world.  My favorite tank top to wear is the Danskin Loose Fit from Wal-Mart found here.  I want to get one in every color because they fit me so well!

What I’m doing this weekend:

Not a whole lot on the agenda for this weekend.  Sunday morning I know we are going to church at the nursing home with my dad.  A local church in Poplar Bluff holds their church service at his nursing home on the first Sunday of every month, so we want to go over and be there with dad for that.  My dad is looking forward to it!  Other than that I hope we swim if the weather is nice and I’d love to get the house power washed, but not sure if I’m feeling that productive or not.

What I’m looking forward to next month:

Lots of things happening in June!  Chris and my sister both turn 34!  We will also celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary!  Lastly, I’m participating in the Mom Summer Exchange that my good friend Jenna is hosting with Johannah and Heather.  I was lucky enough to get partnered up with Heather and can’t wait to put a box together for her!

Hope you enjoy the last day of May!  Make it a good one and remember to smile because you never know what someone else is going through!

  1. Yay to Summertime! I am loving our first week off too, and you are so right saying that no alarms is the best! Still praying for you dad, and I’m loving your house pictures. I love these little recaps or he randomness of life!

  2. Oh this post just makes me all sorts of happy. I love that you are all doing adventure Tuesdays. I cannot wait to see where you are all off to this week. Running shorts and tanks are where it’s at. I just finished my masters in Reading Curriculum for Elementary so if you need anything holler. I have it all still. It is SOOOO tough but will be worth it. Are your classes online? I did mine through Grand Canyon University online. It was hard to learn to be a student again. I am so proud of you!!! Have a happy first of June Jen!

    1. Yes, all of my classes are online. I am going through the program with a few girlfriends so that should help also. Can’t believe it’s June already. Happy Thursday!

      1. YES! That was so nice, I got mine with some co-workers/friends and it was such a huge help! We would send each other our work weekly to make sure we were all on the same page and share research. It was helpful!
