January Book Review

Can you believe it’s already February?  Today I am sharing with you my January book review.  I wanted to post it yesterday on the last day of the month like I usually do, but things have been a little crazy in our household.  We got our first foster placement and have been adjusting to life with a 2 year old.  We also got an offer on our house that was WAY low, but we’ve been working on negotiating with them.  So things have been a little hectic to say the least.

I was only able to read 3 books this month, but am sharing my thoughts with you on each book in hopes you might want to read one!

The Magnolia Story– Where do I even start?  I love Chip and JoJo!  They are an amazing couple and we need more people like them in our world today.  This book was so amazing and gave a lot of the background information about how they met and how they started their Magnolia Company.  In the book it switches back and forth from Jo talking and then Chip talking, so you really have to pay attention when you are reading it.  This book was just inspiring to me because Chip and Jo started with NOTHING and have made a great life for themselves.  They credit it all to being willing to listen to God’s call on their life and taking a leap of faith.  It really made me want to dream bigger and made me feel that nothing can stop you if you are aligned with God’s will and have the faith to do what is asked of you.  Since Chris and I visited The Silos and Magnolia Market this past October, this book was even more special to me!  It was so neat to read and know exactly where they were talking about!

Cancel the Wedding  Wow!  This was such a good book!  Olivia and Georgia are sisters that just lost their mom, Jane.  She has asked them to be cremated and for them to spread her remains back in her hometown of Huntley, Georgia.  The problem with this is that their mom NEVER mentioned anything about her childhood or growing up in Georgia.  With things rocky with her fiance, Olivia  {Liv} on a whim decides to take a road trip and head down there.  Once she is there she has no plan but to figure out exactly why her mom would want her ashes to be spread there.  Throughout the book, Liv has the help of a handsome guy who owns the local newspaper.  Together they uncover TONS of things about Jane Rutledge and her hometown.  There were so many twists and turns in this book and I loved it!

The Woman in Cabin 10– This book scared me!  It is a fictional tale of a young woman, Lo, who goes on a Norwegian Fjords cruise and realizes the girl in the cabin next to hers has disappeared.  Lo heard a splash in the middle of the night and saw blood, so she thinks it was probably a murder!  I don’t want to give anything away…but there were two moments in this book that made me literally scream aloud.  I did not know how the ending would play out and was kept in suspense the entire time.  There were quite a few cuss words in the book that I didn’t care for, but other than that, I loved this book.
