What's Up Wednesday?

What’s Up Wednesday?

Happy Wednesday!  Today I am sharing my monthly What’s Up Wednesday post.  Hope you enjoy!

What I’m loving:

I am loving the fact that there are only 2 more school days left until Christmas Break!  This is definitely what I will look like when we are dismissed on Friday!

What we’ve been up to:

We’ve been up to our normal routine around here.  The girls are keeping us busy with school work and cheer/volleyball practices.  We also had an adoption party we attended for our sweet neighbors when they adopted their son, Gavin.  Chris and I only have 1 more fostering class left and our home study to get licensed as foster parents as well, so we’ve been busy with our classes.  We also have been focused on celebrating Elizabeth’s 10th birthday. Read about her birthday here.

What I’m reminiscing about:

Always around my girls’ birthday, I reminisce about the day they were born and how special of a time it was.  So this week I am finding myself reminiscing about Elizabeth’s birth.  I still can’t believe she is 10!  I was doing my student teaching in the fall semester while I was 7-9 months pregnant with Elizabeth.  I also took 17 credit hours of classes and worked a full time job at Colton’s.  I finished my student teaching on December 5, 2006 and had her a week later on December 12.  I then graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree 4 days later on December 16, 2006.  I even walked at my graduation ceremony at SEMO!  Looking back at pictures you could definitely tell I had just had a baby and I wonder why in the world I went, but I was so proud to finish college and have my degree.  Elizabeth was born on a Tuesday evening at 9:00 p.m.  It was such a special day.  I had an easy pregnancy and an even easier delivery with Elizabeth.  I seriously had to be woken up and told to push!  I pushed two times and she was here.  She was the prettiest baby girl I had ever seen!  {All moms say that, right?!?!}  She looked EXACTLY like her father.  I am usually bad at telling who a baby looks like, but there was no doubt with Elizabeth Faith.  She was such a good baby and these 10 years have flown by together!

What I’m dreading:

I have to get a colonoscopy on Monday, so I am really dreading it.  I have had one before, so I know what to expect, but it’s still not fun.

What I’m working on:

Christmas gifts!  I am done with my shopping, I am just working on wrapping them all and figuring out what is what.  I have piled quite a bit in our closet, so I’ve been trying to go through and make sure I have an even amount of presents for both girls and I didn’t forget anyone on my list!

What I’m excited about:

Christmas Break, duh?!?!?!!? I’m a teacher!

What I’m watching:

Liz and I have been binge watching Season 2 of Fuller House!  We watched Season 1 separately and both loved it, so we are watching Season 2 together.  We’ve been trying to watch an episode a night together, but haven’t been able to the past few nights because of activities.  Tonight, we have a date to watch 2 episodes!

What I’m reading:

Right now I am reading Live Original by Sadie Robertson.  She is an amazing teenager who talks about staying true to her values in this crazy world we live in.  I am so glad I’m not a teenager in today’s society and pray daily for my girls and everyone else that is growing up in these times.  This book gives you “real” talk on how to ignore the world and focus on living your life for God.  Something I pray both of my girls always do!

What I’m listening to:

I have had Michael Buble’s Holiday station on repeat on my Pandora station.  At school, at home, in the car, it doesn’t matter, we are listening to Christmas music.  I heard on the news a few days ago that Michael Buble’s son is battling cancer right now.  It instantly brought me to tears when I heard that.  Cancer is a horrible disease and I hate it!  We all need to remember him in our prayers that he beats this nasty disease.

What I’m doing this weekend:

Friday night we have a make-up foster class that we missed from a few weeks ago that we have to attend.  Then Saturday I plan to clean the house really good and get groceries.  Later that night is our church’s Christmas program that we will go and watch as well.  Sunday I won’t be feeling the best with getting a colonoscopy the next day, so not a lot is planned for that day.  I hope to catch up on some sleep and celebrate that it is Christmas Break!

What I’m looking forward to next month:

Not a whole lot I am looking forward to in January.  It is SO cold and dark outside that I find myself in a winter time depression sometimes.  I don’t do well with cold weather; AT ALL!  In January I am hopeful for at least one snow day off from school.  We also plan to take the girls skiing during the long weekend by MLK, Jr. Day, so that will be fun.
